This image is of the moon rising behind the Headstone formation in Joshua Tree National Park, Southern California. This is very close to Ryan Campground (and the road) and as a result is usually covered with rock climbers. There is a classic route along the arete that forms the skyline close to the moon. On this occasion however, the Headstone was left all on its own.
